Recognized degrees
Each university in this post has recognition from YÖK, Turkey's higher education authority. Whether another country accepts a Turkish degree is that country's decision, so check its rules before you apply, especially if you plan to work abroad. If you may study further in another country later, check that country's rules for Turkish degrees now, not after you graduate.
Many programs are taught in English, which makes it easier to study and work outside Turkey.
Private universities to consider
Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul Aydın University, Üsküdar University and Altınbaş University are private universities in Istanbul.
Compare them on the program you want, the language of instruction, the fee and the city. Admission standards and fees differ by program, so open the program page before you shortlist a university. The table lists these and other private universities with their location, type and rating.

Campuses and facilities
Facilities differ from one university to the next, so judge them for the program you are applying to. Look for laboratories and research centers in your field, check whether the program includes internships or practical projects, and find out where the campus is and how you would get there.
An international environment
Students from Africa, Central Asia, Europe and the Middle East study side by side in Turkey. If an international classroom matters to you, ask the university which nationalities its program enrolls.
Career opportunities
Some universities build internships and practical training into their programs. Ask whether the program you are considering does, and how long the placement lasts.
Your career options also depend on where you want to work. English-taught programs and degree recognition in that country both matter.
Student life
Universities usually have cultural events, student clubs and sports activities. Ask the university which ones run on your campus.
Bahçeşehir, Istanbul Aydın, Üsküdar and Altınbaş are all in Istanbul. Izmir and Ankara also have universities, so the city is one more thing to weigh when you choose.
