Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Medical school in Turkey takes six years and is taught in English or Turkish, depending on the university. Moroccan students choosing a program have three things to settle: which university, which language track, and whether the degree will be accepted in the country where they plan to practice.
The six years fall into three stages.
Years 1 to 3 are pre-clinical. Students study the foundational sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, histology and biochemistry.
Years 4 and 5 are clinical. Teaching moves into hospitals and centers on diagnosis, patient contact and applied medicine.
Year 6 is the internship year, a clinical rotation in which students work in the hospital under supervision.
Clinical training takes up the second half of the degree, so ask each university which hospitals its students train in.

Istanbul Medipol University, Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, Yeditepe University and Biruni University are private universities in Istanbul that link their medical teaching to hospitals. Başkent University, Demiroğlu Bilim University and Lokman Hekim University also offer medical programs.
Medicine-related programs with their fees, languages and durations:
Which language you study in depends on the university. Biruni University, for example, lists its medicine program in both Turkish and English. Bahçeşehir University, Altınbaş University and İstinye University teach medicine in English.
Fees differ between universities, and between the Turkish and English tracks at the same university. The program table above lists the fee for each program, so compare there instead of relying on averages. Budget for the full six years.
Living costs depend on the city. Medipol, Acıbadem, Yeditepe and Biruni are all in Istanbul, so housing, transport and food prices there are the ones to check. Ask each university whether hospital placements in the clinical years cost extra.

On the Turkish side, the universities named in this post are recognized by YÖK, the higher education authority. Each country decides for itself whether to accept a foreign medical degree, so check Morocco's rules before you choose a university. Wherever you want to work, expect to meet that country's licensing requirements first.
Graduates who meet those requirements can practice, apply for specialization or residency training, move into academic and research work, or take other healthcare roles.
