Every application to a Turkish university needs a passport and proof of your earlier education. The rest of the list depends on the degree. Associate and bachelor’s applicants send high school records, and master’s and PhD applicants send university records.
Universities compare these papers against each other. A missing certificate, an unclear transcript or a name spelled differently on two documents can hold up your application.
Documents by degree level
Identification and proof of earlier study are required at every level. Associate and bachelor’s programs ask for high school records, while graduate programs ask for university records. Prepare the list for your own degree level.
Associate degree documents
Associate programs in Turkey usually last two years. Universities check that you finished high school and that your identity matches your papers. You need:
- High school diploma
- Graduation certificate
- High school transcript
- Passport
- Photo copy
The documents should be clear and complete, and the details on them should agree with one another. If a document is not in English, the university may ask for a notarized translation into Turkish.
Bachelor’s degree documents
The bachelor’s list is the same as the associate list. You need:

Universities judge your academic readiness from the transcript, so missing grades or an unofficial record can count against you.
Master’s degree documents
At the master’s level, universities look more closely at what you studied and how you did. You need:

Your bachelor’s transcript should show the credits you completed and your degree status.
PhD documents
Doctoral programs focus on research, so universities ask for proof of both your bachelor’s and your master’s studies. You need:

Incomplete or inconsistent documents often lead to rejection at this level, so check every page before you submit.
Preparing your documents
Three rules apply to every application:
- Names must match exactly on all documents.
- Scanned copies must be clear and readable.
- Your passport must not be expired. An expired passport can get your application rejected.
Universities may also ask to see the original documents at final registration. Keep the physical copies even after you submit digital ones.
Common mistakes
Many students assume the requirements are the same at every university. Small differences exist. Some universities, for example, ask for the graduation certificate separately even when you already provide the diploma.
Starting late is another common mistake. Translation and notarization take time, and last-minute submissions often miss the deadline.
Why complete documents matter
The same documents are used for your admission, your visa, your residence permit and the completion of your enrollment. Students with complete papers usually register faster and run into fewer legal problems after they arrive.
