Tuition fees at Turkish universities
Tuition depends on the type of university, the program and the language of instruction.
Public universities are generally more affordable, especially for programs taught in Turkish. English programs at public universities often cost more than the Turkish ones. Private universities set their own tuition, based on campus facilities, laboratories and academic staff. Programs that need labs and special equipment usually cost more than theory-based programs.

Cost differences by program type
Fields that need expensive infrastructure and equipment cost more. Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering with labs and aviation are often in the higher group. Business, international relations, computer science and architecture usually sit in the middle. Humanities, education and social sciences are often in the lower group. Choose the program that fits your career goals first, then check whether the budget works.

Living costs for students
Living costs in Turkey are moderate compared with many Western countries, but they vary by city and by how you live. Expect to pay for housing, food, transportation, internet and phone, and personal needs.
Istanbul is usually the most expensive city. Ankara, Izmir and Antalya are often more manageable, and smaller cities usually have lower rent and daily costs. Students who cook at home and use public transport tend to spend less.

Housing has a large effect on the total. The common choices are university dormitories, private student residences, shared apartments and individual rentals.
