Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Over 300,000 international students study in Turkey, and prices differ between universities and between cities. To judge whether a university is really cheap, look at tuition, rent and daily expenses together.
Housing, food and transport costs vary from city to city. Ankara, Izmir and Antalya usually cost less than central Istanbul. Konya, Karabük, Erzurum and Samsun are cities with lower housing and daily expenses.
Many campuses connect well to public transport, which lowers daily costs, and student discounts on transport and services cut expenses further. Shared accommodation also keeps rent down. Major cities can have higher housing costs even when tuition is similar.

Istanbul Aydın University, Nişantaşı University, Esenyurt University, Altınbaş University, Antalya Bilim University and Ankara Medipol University attract international students with accessible overall costs and a broad choice of programs. They host large international communities and run many English-taught departments.
Kapadokya University and Beykent University draw students in applied fields such as aviation services, health sciences and business. Haliç University and Kültür University suit students who want a central location without the highest prices. Match the university to your field, your city and your budget.
Most universities admit international students after reviewing their documents. For associate and bachelor's programs you usually need a high school diploma, a transcript, a passport copy and a photo. Master's applicants send a bachelor's diploma and transcript, and PhD applicants send both their bachelor's and master's records.
English-taught programs often ask for proof of English or a placement check. Students with weaker English may start with a preparatory year. Turkish-taught programs require Turkish, which some students build after they arrive.
Many students focus only on the lowest price. A very cheap place in a weak department can limit your career later, so look at faculty quality and facilities too.
Some students pick a city without checking rent and daily expenses. High living costs can cancel out the savings on tuition.
Others send incomplete documents. Missing transcripts or unclear scans slow down decisions, so keep your files organized before you apply.

Applications go through StudyLeo instead of straight to the university, and StudyLeo works with many Turkish universities. Registration, airport transfer and visa support are free. We help you prepare your documents and track the status of your application.
A simple timeline works well. Choose your field and city first, then compare several universities. Prepare your documents early, and apply with enough time left for your visa and your housing search.
